Haven't been on this thing for awhile now. Lately, things are going steady, so no complaints there. This week at work has been rather quiet...mainly because the bossman is on vacation and I'm maning the fort.

The boy and I are about to turn 8 months old. I am happy for the most part and I can't remember what I used to do with my weekends when I was single. hahaha. He and I have been riding bikes most Saturdays or staying in for a movie marathon. Then Sunday we would go eat lunch at Chipotle and wine down the day being lazy fucktards. The company of each other is nice.

when i got out of my last relationship three years ago, i was relieved. it became strenuous due to the fact that it was a long distance relationship and it was hard trying to be the perfect girlfriend to a boy that lives in another town. it was also because we grew apart, which is perfectly normal. part of growing up and what not, you know? i actively started dating again, but it was short lived. i ended up just keeping to myself and did things alone. i took myself to the movies, to dinners, to libraries, and parks. it is strange how when you've completely embrace this new independent you, the universe throws you a curve ball by introducing an unexpected someone into your life. j and i met, talked, hit it off, and next thing i knew i was thinking about him more often than i should. i'm bringing this up now because today is our 3 months of togetherness. we're so in tune with each other's needs/wants. we're made to fit. maybe i'm just getting ahead of myself. i don't care, i'm happy, we're happy.

J helped build my first mirrors for a new photo series that I'm working on. I was so inspired by Andre Kertesz's series on Distortions that I had to give it a try. J will also be my model for this project. :) We've been dating for 4 months now. I feel like I'm in a forever smitten mode.

Patience is not one of my virtues, but my transition to film again has somewhat relieved me from the instant gratification world that I live in. Shooting with film is like a surprise grab bag every time I process a roll. It’s fun and the wait is worth it…(my dslr is on bed rest, but it'll be back).

Also, Spring! Spring! It feels like Spring this week---61 degrees, no jackets necessary.

New York's snow storm murdered my boots, but I still had a good time. I got to dress up for the night of the opening and had a camera follow my awkward self for half an hour.

these are all un-metered light, thus only a few shots turn out. I love the weight of it in my hands; it's solid and aesthetically appealing. i like the sound that the shutter makes, i like having to cock the lever to advance the film, and i like how it's a beast of a thing in size, but you have to be gentle with it. Otherwise, it might jam and that does not equal to a thrilling experience.

i'm going back to NYC come Monday! locked and loaded with my kiev and canon arsenal.

I woke up with a strong urge to dye my hair, so i did.

Today is Tet as it is Valentine's day, but to someone like me---it's just another day. If you don't already know, Tet is a Vietnamese new year and is the most celebrated holiday in Vietnam. We believe that whatever it is you do today will determine the outcome for the rest of the year. It's really superstitious. For example, restrain from shopping today or else you will be short on cash for the rest of 2010. I sound like Confucius.

My Ukranian is here and it's built like a tank. It is a work out holding this beast. I shot 2 rolls, both of which are test rolls to get the feel of my new toy. I believe it needs a bit of cleaning because I can see some dirt debris through the viewfinder. Come Monday, I'm dropping the rolls off at the lab and I only have hope for stellar results.

Yesterday. Panic-stricken yesterday obligerated my emotional coolness. The very important prints I had done at a local print shop were scratched making it ill-fitted for a very important show that I’m in. I cried in public out of stress. I raced into a different print shop with eyes flooded with tears and a nose streamed with snot bubbles. The guy promised to have them by the end of today to fit tomorrow's shipment. He saved my life. I can't believe I cried like a giant baby. It was an embarrassing chain of event, but I can be human once in a while can’t I?

went to a hope for haiti benefit concert the other night and people watched. i came to the realization that i use the term "people watch" to substitute my stalking, curious, hungry eyes. it's fascinating what alcohol and loud music will do to a person.

The four days that I was in NY...I felt like a street urchin. During the day, I explored the city on foot with just a back pack strapped to my shoulders. I walked until my boots wore out. I walked until I, myself wore out. I came across this church and a sign out front offering me a place to sit, to pray, to rest my feet. I am not of the religious kind, but I knew it would be lovely inside.

Took my first trip to New York alone last week. During the short stay, I visited 3 museums: MoMA, Metro, and Whitney. I train hopped. I walked several blocks. I went to the promenade. I crossed bridges. I ate at china town. I stayed in a Polish community. Had breakfast at Cafe Grumpy. Came across beautiful people left and right in every texture, every color humanly possible.

I allowed myself to finish that book today. It was a satisfying read until the end. Took me by surprise at how things turned out. I suppose it's no fairy tale, but it breaks my heart a little.

2010 is here and it's the year of the tiger (my sign, btw). According to mom, it means bad luck for the rest of the year. I beg to differ because 2010 is when I am making imprints in this world that I can proudly recall and smile about.

I'm done with "comfort"...it got me no where. The best thing I've ever done is taking myself out of my element. It was uncomfortable; I writhed like a fish out of water, but I like that feeling. I like never knowing what will happen next. I'll figure it out once I get there. When you plan things you have this expectation and if it is not met--disappointment ensues.

Her work is a narrative on the transient self. She is a fleeting mass that re-discovers herself in every image. I love this woman.

Putting aside all my desire for material belongings, fortune, and recognition, --the one thing I want most out of life is happiness. Happiness is not a pre-packaged gift that you can purchase from the store. It is not something that arrives at your door after 3-5 business days. It is quite simple; at least for me. I am happy when the wind blows my way, I am happy when I get smiles from strangers, I am happy when my 4 year old nephew asks me how I was doing that day, I am happy when I hear my favorite song (s).

It feels nice to still be on my bed on a weekday! School's over! Summer's here, not to stay unfortunately. Things are looking up for me, well, job wise...kinda. I am going to intern at this new ad agency. I'm pretty excited. I am coming by to set up my hours tomorrow woohoo!! I love the feeling of knowing that I am going to belong somewhere.

While my future is starting come together, my love life is at a stand still. Our careers are steering us in different directions and I am for certain that he thinks I don't care. I do. I just have a weird way of showing it.
